Web space for electronic lovers!
The purpose of the site is to provide a space of reference for those who want to begin or deepen the secrets
and principles underlying the functioning of electronic devices. People, in other words, that loves
"to put their hands in". Phrase used frequently by the author in the book
"Hackers" dedicated to the pioneers of computer science.
Electronic, in fact, is the base of the birth and development of information technology that would not exist
without it. Same goes for the world of communication, diagnostic and medical equipment, automation, production,
inspection and transport, as we know them today. By definition, the electronics is the science that studies
the flow and the behavior of the electrons in the devices, designed and manufactured in different materials,
to obtain a given function.
taking knowledge of things and assimilating the concepts that underlie them, it establishes a natural process
of development to find new applications that can meet our needs. This process, similar to what happens in nature
according to the evolutionary model, can lead to original creations, the same way the works of the
"artists".
The device which distinguished electronics from simple electrical engineering, was the vacuum tube. Briefly, this is
(it is still on the market for some uses) a glass tube under vacuum in which it controls the flow of electrons among
metal parts (plates, filament) contained in its interior. Towards the end of the 60' the transistor, a semiconductor
device, began to replace the vacuum tube. It began the era of so-called "solid state" circuit. Semiconductors gave a
remarkable impulse to the electronics that continued to develop in the technique consisting in the integration of
several transistors, and other components, logically allocated on a small silicon piece (chip) (integrated circuits).
Integrated circuits have not only made possible the significant reduction of components necessary for the realization
of the products, but also have them made more reliable and with low cost. With the progress of production technique,
and the consequent miniaturization, they made components that have allowed to develop components more and more
sophisticated and capable of reaching, for example, oscillation frequencies unthinkable before. A practical example
of this is the laser, the component which allows, in turn, to further reduce the production process that allows higher
oscillation frequencies (think of the CPU of the Personal Computer), establishing a vicious evolutionary unstoppable.
As a result, nowadays, almost everything that surrounds us is operated, controlled or produced by electronic devices.
Electronic circuits are made by the assemblage of several devices having different function, the electronic components.
The most common electronic components are resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, transistors and integrated circuits.
In each category there are different constitution to meet various application needs. Of each electronic component is listed
characteristics, appearance, graphic symbol, purpose and manner of using it, in the web page expressely published on.
As any other matter, for the electronics also the web is a goldmine of informations and electronic projects (mostly in English).
Like any respectable electronic site, "Electronics Zone" features a gallery of experiments to be performed and projects
to be implemented, but unlike the generality of the sites of the category, the experiments and projects submitted are truly
tested and / or implemented. This is a very important thing to keep in consideration because not rarely one comes across in
projects that do not work in the practical test, leaving the hapless hobbyist a bitter feeling. Feeling even fiercer if the
wasted time was of some significance. When, even worse, does not create doubts on its own abilities who, especially beginners,
may end this fantastic hobby. Hobby that, if taken with passion, can become not only a source of savings, but can even be,
in some cases, source of alternative income.
